I used to have a D70 before owning a D7000
taking pictures in the low light is super hard
anyone know what settings i may need? or lens best to use?

prime lens with big aperture like f1.4 lens ???

I was the same! I had a D70s before getting a D7000. I bought a 50mm prime f1.8 for low light.
However the stock lens that normally would come with the D7000 is a 18-105mm f3.5 I think. You should be able to up the ISO level and still get a good picture depending on what your taking. I take band photos so can be low light. I've had mine set to ISO 1600-2000. It does put noise onto the photo but you have to have a balance.
